Crispy on the Outside: Better Booze in Virginia, At Last?

  • Bitter · 5 months ago
Sadly, Virginia's ABC stores are so much better than Pennsylvania's government owned & operated liquor & wine stores. Unfortunately, there's no movement here to privatize. Regardless of the fact that it's just a political patronage gig, and there have been ethics scandals. The most we've been able to muster in terms of a challenge to the status quo is Wegmans getting a license to sell beer - a maximum of 2 6-packs at a time. (In addition to state-run wine/liquor stores, we have draconian beer sales laws.)

You seriously can only buy booze from the government? How do you get recommendations? When's the rebellion? It's bad enough in CT that the liquor stores must be shut on Sunday.
